Once again, it’s been ages (about 3 weeks) since I blogged last and quite a lot has happened. On November 7th, we flew home to Melbourne for son Mick’s 30th birthday. I’ve missed a number of birthdays and special times over the years as we’ve travelled so I made a promise to my boys to at least spend their 30ths with them. I was going to fly over by myself, but Blair and Leah kindly treated Russ to a ticket too as thanks for the driving around, cooking and shopping etc. we did when Leah was out of action after her foot op, and for cat sitting Cosmo when they were away. They didn’t need to do it, but it was much appreciated!
We spent Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights in Melbourne with Mick, took him out for lunch on his birthday, went out again for lunch the next day then moved on to a pub where we caught up with a few of his mates for a great arvo. The highlight of the day for Russ and I was our host daughter Tomoko coming along with our new “grand daughter” Kohana. It was so lovely to see them both-especially to meet Kohana for the first time.
Sunday we went by train to Traralgon and spent two nights catching up with our grandsons Kobie and Rooke, my sister and her husband and my good friend Chris, her husband and extended family. It was really good to be able to have theboys stay over with us the two nights at Dan’s place. They were especially excited to see us and very well behaved for us too. Russ and I got to take Kobie on his Kinda excursion to Coles supermarket on the Monday morning.
On Tuesday, we drove Dan’s car to Portland and spent two nights with our good friends Deb and Pete. rest assured we had plenty of good wine and food and lots of laughs during our stay with them. Thursday it was back to Warrnambool and our friends Janette and David. We stayed a night with them (visited our now rented house to say Hi to tenant Ben) then all four of us headed to the airport and Perth.
We shopped, visited baby Harry and his parents, went out for Spanish tapas, Chinese yum cha, ate in and talked and laughed and caught up in general. Monday Janette and David picked up a hire campervan, we got our caravan out of storage, and we headed down here to Walpole where we are right now. Baby Harry came to yum cha in Northbridge with us all and behaved like a doll. He woke for a feed after Deb had eaten, then went off to sleep again while we had an ice cream across the street. It was his first real restaurant visit in his first three weeks of life.Janette and David will be here for 6 nights before flying home, Russ and I are here for 4 weeks of fishing! We’ve done a bit of touristy stuff visiting the giant Tingle Trees and the Valley of the Giants on day one, yesterday we went to Denmark for lunch, a bit of shopping and some sight seeing along the way. Today, Russ and Janette went out fishing in the Nornalup Inlet while David and I relaxed.
